Where is the Valhalla Hotel, a rest place near Cotopaxi Volcano National park
Hotel Valhalla is strategically located right off the Panamerican Highway south of Machachi at KM 19. It is a fantastic location for those with hiking and climbing in mind. At approximately 3,500 meters above sea level it is a great spot to acclimatize for high altitude trekking or climbing.Our 3.8 ha of property is located in a gated community just outside the boundary of Cotopaxi National Park. For security the gate is locked at night. It is open from 08.00 - 18.00 every day and by appointment. It is a vehicle gate so if you are walking in from the highway you do not have to be concerned with it. If you arrive unannounced in your vehicle and the gate is locked it is just a short walk to let us know you are there so we can open it for you. From the Panamericana it is only a 4 minute drive or a 15 minute walk to our door. If you have driven you will find ample parking.
How to reach Hotel Valhalla by your own transport
From Quito:
Catch any bus going south (direction of Latacunga, Ambato, or Baños). After the Machachi road toll, get out of the bus at Km 19 (markers are on the right hand side of the road). Km 19 is approximately 1.5 hours from Quito and 15 min from Machachi.
From Latacunga:
Catch a bus heading towards Quito . Once you see the entrance to “El Boliche” on the right hand side, ask to be dropped off at the next entrance on the right hand side of the road. (The entrance has a green gate which can be seen when coming from the south).
